First it was Ralph Nader. Then it was Jesse Jackson. Now Arlen Specter has come to T.O.’s defense.
Oh well, at least it’s not just kooky left-wingers anymore…
In the previous round of XTREME Wingnut Preach-Off, Jim Rutz pulled off the upset of the year and knocked Pastor Swank off his perch as the wingnuttiest preacher on the Internets. This week, Rutz will have to defend his crown against an old foe, the Rev. Mark H. Creech.

Let’s start with our defending champ, whose column this week is about (what else?) the eeeeeevils of political correctness:
PC is on the march, gobbling up every decent value and belief in its mindless path. It has no god, but it invents sacred cows by the thousands. It has no scriptures, but it controls and censors almost every newspaper.
It’s true. Political correctness is the #1 reason why the New York Times won’t print Pastor Swank’s thoughtful essays about the dangers of homo nups.

Apparently, Limp Bizkit (remember them?) have recorded a cover of the Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony” for their new Greatest Hitz album. *shudder* I’m stealing downloading it right now. I’ll let you know how it is.
UPDATE: Oh dear. It starts off with a coupla verses from Motley Crue’s “Home Sweet Home.” Durst’s voice sounds like how the bull frogs from the “Bud. Wise. Er.” commercials would sound if you loaded them up with a bunch of heavy sedatives and made them listen to Leonard Cohen’s late-’80s records. Also, the laptop-created backing music sounds like Dr. BLT doing a parody of MC Hawking making fun of Aphex Twin.
UPDATE 2: Holy crap. This is the most painful thing I’ve ever heard. If Richard Ashcroft ever decided to bludgeon Fred Durst with a tire iron, I’d strongly encourage law enforcement officials to look the other way.
With PePo on hiatus, Renew America has become our most reliable source for all things Marie Jon’:
Americans have been under a total misrepresentation of words from the far left, also known as the Democrat Party. It was once upon a time that the media and the American people understood and recognized the actions of treason.
Uh-huh. Marie, if you’re gonna accuse us of treason, please have the stones to call the FBI and tell them to throw us in jail.
The media behaved differently in the days of former administrations that prosecuted other wars. The newspapers would be critical of many things, but it never politicized a war and put troops in harms way. The newspapers of that era would never have thought to undermine a sitting war-time president. If any congressmen or senator ? well-known or otherwise ? would have uttered such despicable lies back then, the media would have dismissed the elected official. The word “un-American” would have been used to describe these people without much of a second thought.
Can we roll the tape of Republican quotes about Bill Clinton during his military intervention in the Balkans? Here are some of my personal favorites:
“You can support the troops but not the president.”
-Rep Tom Delay (R-TX)“Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?”
-Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99“[The] President… is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation?s armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy.”
-Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA)
OK, Marie, what do you think? Are these people all traitors?

I’m busy today like a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest, so here’s an exciting title card for upcoming attractions.* In lieu of, like, actually writing anything. Which is hard.
Also in the news, the imponderably underappreciated Retardo keeps busting out the jams, all the way down the page. The fact that he makes fun of us in passing is merely the pickle atop the sundae. Link to him already, y’all blog-swabbers! He’s the smartest guy we know, and since that includes me, that’s saying a mouthful of persimmons, or some such phony-archaic phrase.
…And as I write this, I notice that it’s exactly 4:20. Could there be a better time to visit the old Elementropy? There could not be.
* That’s Justin Darr in the pic, for those who haven’t yet had the pleasure of his acquaintance.
I’m reading Sy Hersh’s latest piece in the New Yorker. If what he’s saying is accurate, we’re pretty much fucked. Here’s a choice excerpt:
Bush’s closest advisors have long been aware of the religious nature of his policy commitments. In recent interviews, one former senior official, who served in Bush’s first term, spoke extensively about the connection between the President’s religious faith and his view of the war in Iraq. After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the former official said, he was told that Bush felt that “God put me here” to deal with the war on terror. The President’s belief was fortified by the Republican sweep in the 2002 congressional elections; Bush saw the victory as a purposeful message from God that “he’s the man,” the former official said. Publicly, Bush depicted his reelection as a referendum on the war; privately, he spoke of it as another manifestation of divine purpose.
Actually, I can see where Bush is coming from. To be such a crappy President and still get reelected does seem to indicate some higher (or Satanic) power at work.
That’s a sentence, inter alia.
What Froghouse said here. (On Vietnam, and on the seemingly deathless ‘stab in the back’ narrative that’s emitted year after year by figures such as Midge Decter — wherein, in very sight of victory, war critics left John Rambo to rot in the jungle.)
The operant term is ‘historical illiteracy,’ although it’s always difficult to tell with these people whether they’re genuinely hairball-dumb or only miming.
I try not to do quickie me-too posts, but after Riley finishes with Midge Decter here, there’s nothing left but to sift through the ashes and charred bone chips.
And the bone chips are delicious!
Crazy chick walking around on sidewalk wonders why she isn’t getting more attention from the news media:
And why did the mainstream media ignore these devastating photos, [* Not the photo where she is fondling her breasts while rubbing up against Glenn Reynolds btw,] first posted on my blog October 30th? These photos in and of themselves are a declation [sic] of war.
The post bears the headline “Iran: WTF are we [sic] waiting for?” In the land of the 101st Keyboard Brigade, there is always money and never a shortage of soldiers to fight another battle in their internet game of Risk (…a game of world domination being played by two guys who can barely run their own lives.) Speaking of which, here’s Michael Ledeen:
Moving step by step ? first Iraq, then we’ll see ? gave the surviving terror masters time to organize their counterattack before we liberated Iraq, and, as I predicted [!!!], the extra time was also used to develop the weapons of mass destruction
What weapons of mass destruction have been developed by Iran since the start of Operation Michael Moore is Fat. Please be specific.
