Sadly, No! gets results!

Yesterday (at 10:26AM CET) we wrote:

Back to Andrew however: he “quotes” Krugman as arguing that tax cuts are the “entire” reason for “the deficit,” while Krugman suggests they are the “main” reason.

Today (at 6:14AM CET) Andrew Sullivan writes:

CORRECTION: In tackling Krugman, I committed an error of hyperbole. I wrote that he had said that the “entire reason” for the deficit was tax cuts. He said the “main reason.” He did, however, omit any reference to the vast increase in discretionary domestic spending under Bush.

In other words: I was wrong but I’ll add what I think is a Krugman error to move the cheese just a little bit further.

Hello Andrew.

Update: Donald Luskin corrects Sullivan but adds that Krugman lied:

But now he’s [Sullivan] made another error of hyperbole in the opposite direction, adding “He did, however, omit any reference to the vast increase in discretionary domestic spending under Bush.” Au contraire. Krugman certainly did not “omit any reference.” He made many references, all of which were lies… [Italics in the original]

Update 2: Calpundit also gets results.

Now that you mention it

A WorldNetDaily reader writes in with a simple question:

Did it ever occur to you that Bush is who the Lord wants in office at this time?

Hmmmm…

The Central Tenets of the Blogosphere

As posted by World O’Crap, in the comments for this post:

The Central Tenets of the Blogosphere:

  1. Don’t write under an alias, because it would hinder your efforts to gain credibility by bragging about your days as a real journalist.
  2. Don’t read what you link to — even if it could prevent you from making misstatements about said linked item — because it only wastes your valuable time.
  3. Keep your readers in suspense by changing your opinion every sentence or two about whether Bush has endorsed the amendment to ban gay marriage.
  4. Have frequent funding drives in which you mention how expensive it is be read by a trillion* readers a year. (* Don’t worry about providing the actual readership stats — everybody in the blogosphere lies about that kind of thing.)
  5. Pout if anybody criticizes you.
  6. Practice questionable sexual ethics.
  7. Make fun of John Derbyshire whenever possible.

As WOC asked us, How many of those tenets do you follow?

Oh oh, someone showed K-Lo some titties!

John “Stick Figure Men” Derbyshire links to a several months-old joke that “compares” the education system in the East and the West. He adds this warning:

Warning: some of this is PG-13.

Which is then followed by:

UPDATE: KLO GIVES THIS AN R RATING

Why? Here is the R-rated picture.

K-Lo won’t be posting anymore today in The Corner, as she will spend the rest of the afternoon trying to reach the Pope (or, if he is not available, Peggy Noonan) to confess her sins, while Rich Lowry & Jonah Goldberg will try to explain what those scary things K-Lo saw were. Please send flowers.

We couldn’t write anything this interesting even if we tried

And God knows we don’t. For your reading pleasure today:

  • Roy Edroso at alicublog reports on Peggy “Crazy Jesus Lady” Noonan’s foray into Charles “Dr. Hugo Hackenbush” Krauthammer territory here.
  • Christopher Allbriton reports that the Iraqi List of CPA Miracles doesn’t pass the laugh test. [Link via SullyWatch.]
  • Elton at busybusybusy finds conclusive proof that William Safire is little more than Ed Gillespie with a better vocabulary.
  • Steve at No More Mister Nice Blog compares the comedy of Dennis Miller and Everybody Loves Raymond. Advantage: Raymond.
  • I have a theory the earth is round department: Tim Lambert finds evidence that InstaPundit is a major asshat, here and there.

  • How about idontreadwhatilinkto.blogspot.com then?

As we were enjoying our 2 minutes of blog fame yesterday (a distinction that very nearly rivals Joe Lieberman being endorsed by the Nasua edition of Auto Trader [brought to you by S,N! reader Bailey],) a few commenters took exception with our suggestion for an (anonymously) Andrew Sullivan-authored blog.

It took us nearly twenty four hours to come up with a suggestion that is both appropriate and funny different — proof if there ever was that we should have started this non-sleeping thing a long time ago. So let us revise our suggestion for Mr. Sullivan and offer that he start up a new blog at:

    http://idontreadwhatilinkto.blogspot.com

We would be quite interested to see how long it takes him, on the basis of his writing alone, to reach the amount of traffic he enjoys now. We shall speculate, if today’s Daily Dish is any indication, that it will take quite some time. Why? Oh, it’s so simple really. Here Andrew takes aim at Donald Luskin prot?g? Paul Krugman:

KRUGMAN BLAMES TAX CUTS: That’s the entire reason for the deficit. Yeah, right. [Emphasis added]

As is his (foolish and unsafe) practice, Sullivan provides a link to the column, which allows you to see what Krugman is up to. Read Sullivan’s quote above again, and then read Krugman’s words below. Ready?

    FRENCH GUARD:
Allo, dappy English k-niggets and Monsieur Arthur King, who has the brain of a duck, you know. So, we French fellows outwit you a second time!
    ARTHUR:
How dare you profane this place with your presence! I command you, in the name of the Knights of Camelot, to open the doors of this sacred castle, to which God Himself has guided us!
    FRENCH GUARD:
How you English say, ‘I one more time, mac, unclog my nose in your direction’, sons of a window-dresser! So, you think you could out-clever us French folk with your silly knees-bent running about advancing behavior?! I wave my private parts at your aunties, you cheesy lot of second hand electric donkey-bottom biters.

Our pledge to you: we shall never sleep again

Once again, our lazy, sleep-including routine has gotten the best of us. We should know better because it’s happened so many times before: a blog goes away for a few hours, and all sorts of exciting things happen. Exhibit 1 being, of course, the combined Atrios-Sullivan appearance on NPR yesterday. (MP3 clip here.) Sullivan raised two equally idiotic and off-topic points to slam Atrios, presumably because he had nothing of any consequence to bring up (as is his wont.)

SullyWatch takes a look and reminds the Captain of his own anonymous work:

And just who is Sullivan to whine about this? Go back and reread any TNR?s ?Notebook? section in the front of the book from when Sullivan was editor, or even just involved with the magazine. You can practically see now just what he wrote, right down to the lame ?awards? and ?watches? he still does (actually, as blog posts go, they?re pretty good) and that he was as swinish then when he didn?t have to risk his reputation and name. And what Sully didn?t write often bears the equally telltale fingerprints of Gregg Easterbrook.

Yet this particular debate, as SullyWatch goes on to argue, is not only pointless but extremely stupid. Besides, rather than point to the use of anonymously authored articles by second-rate publications (e.g. The New Republic,) we wonder why it appears no one has mentioned The Economist? Except for special guest columns and surveys, the entire thing is anonymous, “personally attacks” public figures (whatever Andrew might have meant by that,) and yet, somehow, amazingly, miraculously, is considered by many to be the best weekly news magazine published in English.

Sullivan’s own “feedback” feature publishes all letters anonymously, a fact that apparently doesn’t take anything away from the arguments presented. (Leaving aside that only Sullivan ever receives letters from such writers as Communists for Bush and Progressive Pro-Choice Women of America for Bush.)

Sullivan gets all pissy today with his challenge to Atrios, but it is his own letters policy (now edited) he should pay attention to. As of this writing, it reads:
