Bush is in Deep Shit

He’s even lost The General:

I hate that son of a bitch in the White House and everyone who supports him. He doesn’t represent me. He’s the embodiment of America’s darkest side…

And yes, my Inner Frenchman just kicked the shit out of the General for supporting that fascist fuck in the White House. The General should recover in a few hours.

Jiminy Christmas!

It must be raining frogs outside, because Michelle Malkin is making perfect sense here.

Also, she has an excellent post on the lost children of Katrina.

This is just too fucking bizarre. I need a drink.

Jabbar Gibson bus ‘looting’ update

As we can see, those buses were desperately needed by the authorities to help evacuate the city.

A Note to Our Conservative Friends, Pt. II

So I picked up today’s Boston Herald expecting to see the usual Hannity-esque apologetics for the Bush administration’s bungling. But lo and behold, I looked at the front page and this is what I saw:

A note to our conservative friends

WE TOLD YOU SO

Ever wonder why New Yorkers detest George Bush?

Because we experienced his incompetence up close and person. We knew this guy was full of shit, absolutely full of fucking shit, after they started to play games with the funding and gave Wyoming terrorism money. We knew he was an assclown then.

We thought DC 9/11 was a comedy, because the Bush we saw hid in AF One like the scared bitch that he is.

But did you listen?

Continued here… Thanks to EnragedPhilosopher and others for the tip.

More Quality Work from Ms. Malkin

Michelle Malkin writes about Kanye West*, who last night said that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” on live TV:

Time magazine calls West “the smartest man in pop music” and put him on the cover last week… Guess he must be an avid Internet/blog reader. Too bad he didn’t read the Snopes summary of the “looting vs. finding” meme before he made a fool of himself before the world.

Yes, too bad:

Claim: Photograph captions describe a black man “looting” and a white couple “finding” supplies in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Status: True.

And while it’s difficult to draw conclusions from such a small sample of photographs (from two different news agencies, no less), I think it’s ridiculous to call anyone wading through waist-high water with a bag of food slung over their shoulder a “looter.” If you’re stealing flat screens, fine, you’re a looter. But if you’re taking food back to your family, you’re a just a normal goddamn human being.

*BTW, I’ve been looking for an opportunity to plug Kanye’s new album. It’s really, really good, so if you’re a hip-hop fan, buy it.

Super-aggravated DWB

This is the story with that ‘unauthorized bus’ that made a brief, cryptic newsblip a couple of days ago — the one that was initially turned away from the Astrodome.

mediumtopstory238.jpg
20-year-old Jabbar Gibson

The big yellow school bus wasn’t expected or approved to pass through the stadium’s gates. Randy Nathan, who was on the bus, said they were desperate to get out of town.

“If it werent for him right there,” he said, “we’d still be in New Orleans underwater. He got the bus for us.”

Eighteen-year-old Jabbor Gibson [sic]jumped aboard the bus as it sat abandoned on a street in New Orleans and took control.

“I just took the bus and drove all the way here…seven hours straight,’ Gibson admitted. “I hadn’t ever drove a bus.”

The teen packed it full of complete strangers and drove to Houston. He beat thousands of evacuees slated to arrive there.

Jabbar Gibson’s bus was in fact the first to arrive in Houston, and he saved at least 70 people — including an eight-day-old baby. Gilliard says they’re trying to charge him with theft. Any journalist want to walk this one to the bank? You got a national hero here — and be it known that we want to hear the actor in the HBO original feature say “Let’s roll” when he pulls the bus door shut and hits Rt. 10.

[Update: The bus was ‘85% children.’ Pix here. Also, Malkin did a thing, so we officially don’t hate her for 24 hours.]

[Last update: Cites are starting to pop up in the search engines. There was a convoy of at least three Orleans Parish school buses, hiked by young people and arriving first, second, and fourth at the Astrodome.]

More info (scroll for context)

[Update: From this and other info (more later), FEMA clearly wasn’t letting any aid into New Orleans until the gates suddenly flew open for Bush’s media event. The Red Cross now claims that withholding food and water was a FEMA policy to ensure that people would evacuate the city instead of hanging around eating food. That’s the best one we’ve heard all day, not least because New Orleans was a famous culinary city, and the Cajun Rice and Beans with Sauce MRE (#18) totally flunked the Airman Magazine taste test:

Yucky. Should be labeled “Fear Factor” material. This Cajun staple really missed the mark, that’s a “garaunteeee.” No amount of hot sauce can make it taste any better. “Even Mikey wouldn’t eat this.”

So we think they give themselves too much credit if they think people were going to hang around in a sweltering, excrement-smeared building littered with corpses for, you know, some real Cajun food for a change. And we certainly look forward to more dancing-bear sketch comedy tomorrow. Guar-un-teee.]

[Oh yeah — and don’t forget these guys, the Canadian rescue team that Louisiana requested. Homeland Security stopped them from entering the country on Wednesday.]

Timmah420 got the clip of the trucker. From Tigrismus, pessullivan, and Michael (thanks!!):

Red Cross prevented from entering New Orleans.
Steve Rose calls the Red Cross to ask if this is true, Red Cross official confirms.

Supplies prevented from entering New Orleans:
NOLA evacuee Andrea Garland says she has spoken to friends inside the city and relief workers.

From another Kos diary (we’re looking for the original cite):

They held back volunteers for the parade!

A friend of mine called this morning from Kentucky. A bunch of his buddies from a rescue squad went down to New Orleans with boats and trucks, etc. to help in the search. The FEMA guys wouldn’t let them in telling them to spend the night with the rest of the volunteers in this staging area. They were told that FEMA was letting them all go in “together” in the morning (just as Bush arrived!). They were really pissed that they had to hang around all night while people were dying. They have boats that could be out searching for people. But instead they were kept for the “parade”!

Anyone with TiVo grab a copy of ABC News tonight? There’s a brief segment with a truck driver outside of the Superdome. It might be on again during the late news.

Those are the guys we heard on the scanner. The one who was on ABC said that they were loaded and ready to go on Monday, and told not to leave. And then they arrived right as the President was doing his media circus.

If I come back here and see that nobody with TiVo recorded ABC’s late news, I’m throwing y’all off the levee, hear?

PS: Someone with a Kos account please post a diary ASAP. A little distributed networking, and we might have a nice little major scandal brewing.
