Prominent right-wing blogger today calls for the murder of Supreme Court Justices – the Right fails to condemn it.
If your only source for news was reading right-wing blogs, you would have thought that the most significant world event in the last few days was that some crazy woman who nobody ever heard of before (someone by the name of “Deb Frisch”) left some vile comments on Jeff Goldstein’s blog […]
Virtually every right-wing blogger spent the weekend focused on this solemn and grave matter, milking it for all it was worth. Many implied that this unknown commenter was some sort of towering figure of great significance among liberals, and exploited the drama to argue that the “Left” must approve of these comments because they didn’t denounce the comments enough times or with enough vigor.
The Pattycake (“I’ll sue! — er, I could sue!”) distraction was great fun, but why bother with such a moron when I can go to the font of WingNet stupidity and read the following:
Lot’s of “advanced searches today. Looks like “Retardo Montalban at SN! is going to be putting together another of his “Adlerian analyses of me.
Which, I’m not sure what “Adlerian means, exactly—but from context, I gather the last time he used it to mean something like “look what I can do with things taken out of context and the joined together by my preconceived notions and intentional omissions! Give me kudos, Amanda!
I’m thinking I’ll maybe pull out of the Online Integrity thing. Integrity doesn’t mean we should be compelled to respect the privacy of those who rely on our restraint to launch the basest personal attacks.
Although I’m sure Glenn Greenwald can cite caselaw that say it means precisely that, and Andrew Sullivan would bemoan any walking back on earlier pledges as proof that I have lost my moral authority.
I AM BECOME A ROGUE NATION! FEAR THE UNRESTRAINED COUNT COCKULA, BITCHES!

I think Atrios hits close to the mark in this post on Jonathan Chait: one should never underestimate an author’s vanity. Chait, like so many other Sensible Liberals, can’t admit he was wrong about Iraq.
But I think along with that, one should not discount the fear that Sensible Liberals have of the Left. I mean it when I say that they really do fear the Left more than they fear the Right, although the reason for this greater fear is most often, probably, on a simple calculus of the familiar vs. the unknown. Sensible Liberals are used to the Right (even the Extreme Right) being in power; they at least know what that’s like. Having the Left in power, however, is an unknown.
It’s also why we drink booze, woo a flooze, and take poos in our shoes — because hey buddy, you snooze, you lose.
But indeed, why doesn’t the New York Times quit it with all that high-flown cloak-and-dagger ‘warrantless spying’ stuff, and simply haul off and print a New York City subway map, so that al-Qaeda can know where all the secret and never-advertised subway routes are?
First, we’re gonna rock your faces with the musical adventures of a styrofoam octopus and talking peanut. Yes, my friends, it is time to drop the GIMME GIMME OCTOPUS BOMB:
So unless I’m engaging in some very fast multitasking—putting up the post, altering her comments, etc., she said what she said. And it’s there for all to see. In fact, she comments in the very thread where I reproduced it, and doesn’t mention anything about the comment being false or altered in any way.
Additionally, I propose that the following two facts are not mutually exclusive:
1. Weblogger Jeff Goldstein is – and I speak from long experience here – a truly sad and embarrassing figure.
2. It isn’t even remotely cool to talk shit about, or make threats towards, people’s small children. This is pretty much a context-independent thing.
The Editors foolishly resumes hostilities by posting an Eddie Money video at the end of this piece. This is an act of aggression that will not stand. Time to reach into the ol’ war cache.
