This Is Getting Even More Interesting

From James, in comments:

Freerepublic.com shows marccostanzo associated with email address [email protected]

Google shows zopix2 associated with email alias maldarrin, e.g. [email protected] (Jeff Costigan). Interesting similarity between Costigan and reported suspect name Castagana.

IMDB.com shows a maldarrin (http://www.imdb.com/user/ur3527605/comments) that likes to review movies and thinks “Nacho Libre is “Definitely a film for those who hold that loudmouth Jon Stewart is something other than a tacky, banal, second-rate comedienne. He apparently likes horror movies with eye candy.

“Jeff Costigan has posted comments on sites like http://hugoboy.typepad.com/hugo_schwyzer/2005/08/amanda_linked_t.html, claiming that Malkin, Laura Ingraham, and Ann Coulter “CHAMPION WOMANHOOD AND ALL WOMANLY VIRTUES

I’m finding a comment from ‘Costigan’ on QandO, and a cite by ‘Costanzo’ of an Ace of Spades HQ post justifying torture.

Where else did teh domestic terror suspect hang out?

I’m hoping for an Ann Althouse sighting, but life couldn’t be that good.

Wingnut Arrested In Fake Anthrax Terror Scheme

In a synchronic congruity of a nature seemingly designed to test the faith of the most devout of atheists, this piece of business, from about 4PM yesterday…

gutman.jpg
Above: debut of new FOX attack unit Greg Gutfeld

…Was swiftly consummated with this one, from about 10:30:

A California man suspected of mailing threatening letters containing a suspicious white powder to celebrities and U.S. politicians has been arrested and could face federal charges on Monday, the FBI said.

Investigators identified Chad Castagana, 39, of Woodland Hills, California, as the person suspected of sending more than a dozen threatening letters to media outlets and the homes of public figures in various cities, the FBI said in a statement on Sunday evening.

According to a federal search warrant, among those who received threatening letters were Jon Stewart of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show;” talk show host David Letterman; Keith Olbermann of MSNBC; Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California, who is set to become Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Sen. Charles Schumer of New York, both Democrats.

Here’s the (ahem) domestic terror suspect’s Free Republic bio:

I am a lifelong Conservative Republican .

I have an Associates Degree in the Science of Electronics .

Ann Coulter is a Goddess and I worship Laura Ingraham and Michele Malkin .

English is the langauge of the United States of America- – our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution are written in the langauge that expresses our civilized freedoms .

Spanish is the language of Banana Republics, beyond that it belongs in a European country.

UPDATE: Golly gee, look at this (‘Marc Costanzo‘ is the suspect’s Freeper alias):

>>Not to make light of the situation, but drama queen Olbermann put on quite a production even after he’d been told the powder was harmless and checked out by doctors and told he was fine. He demanded that he be rushed to the hospital for more tests. I wouldn’t be even remotely surprised if he mailed it to himself. I’ve never seen someone more desperate for attention and approval.<< I heard from a liberal blog that Olbermann was a prima donna at the hospital, giving the medical staff and the cops a hard time . Keith is a whiny little b@tch ! Accepting that, I do not believe he sent it to himself . But that is just guess work .

DOUBLE UPDATE: Let’s check in with our doyenne of domestic terror hysteria, Michelle Malkin, seeing as she’s ‘worshipped’ by a suspect now in custody. I think we know what we’re going to find.

Wait, Is Doug Feith Actually “The Fucking Second Stupidest Guy On The Face Of The Earth?”

Oh good gravy. First check this again. Remember Doug Feith? Yes, the very same Doug Feith. Who could forget Doug Feith?

Everything You Know Is Wrong
November 12th, 2006

About Donald Rumsfeld, according to a person familiar with him. Douglas J. Feith worked closely with Rumsfeld for four years. He refutes a lot of the popular myths about the man. Especially the cartoonish figure that his political opponents have drawn.

[…]

Rumsfeld is a bundle of paradoxes, like a fascinating character in a work of epic literature. And as my high school teachers drummed into my head, the best literature reveals that humans are complex. They are not the all-good or all-bad, all-brilliant or all-dumb figures that inhabit trashy novels and news stories. Fine literature teaches us the difference between appearance and reality.

[…]

Those of us in his inner circle heard him say, over and over again: Our intelligence, in all senses of the term, is limited. We cannot predict the future. We must continually question our preconceptions and theories. If events contradict them, don’t suppress the bad news; rather, change your preconceptions and theories.

Read it all, it is a very different picture than is routinely presented in the media or especially by his enemies. I like the way Feith presents the way Rumsfeld has been portrayed:

What Rumsfeld believed, said and did differs from the caricature. The public picture of him today is drawn from news accounts reflecting the views of people who disapproved of his policies or disliked him. Rumsfeld, after all, can be brutally demanding and tough. But I believe history will be more appreciative of him than the first draft has been. What will last is serious history, which, like serious literature, can distinguish appearance from reality.

That’s actually a good thing to remember about all media coverage on any subject.

Yes, in contrast to other portraits, this is clearly an incisive and valuable account by an observer with no self-serving political motives, who isn’t famous for a total lack of honesty or accountability coupled with a titanic and arrogant incompetence, as chronicled throughout the entire world of political journalism. And who didn’t, for instance, resign the number-three post at the Department of Defense one step ahead of an FBI investigation for espionage — about which Donald Rumsfeld certainly wouldn’t have any inside dirt stowed away, so why bother being nice to him. Feith, you say? Can’t say I’d heard of him before, old bean.

Jesus.

Following habit, I shall now resort to comedy as a means of coping with perceived iniquities.

Secret Agent Confederate Yankee: Licensed To Watch TV (Updated)

Iran Fakes Drone Carrier Footage

I just saw a short clip on Fox News

Actually, we could just stop here and not have to worry that we’d missed much of anything. But let’s stay with him for a bit.

I just saw a short clip on Fox News where the Iranian government showed grainy, near-overhead footage of a U.S. aircraft carrier, and claimed this was evidence that an Iranian drone was able penetrate U.S. fleet radar and air cover, a story also covered by Breitbart.com.

Those who follow Confederate Yankee’s exploits may suspect that this is about to become yet more evidence that all visual images involving the Middle East are faked by the far-left-liberal Muslamonazi MSM.

But the apparent proof that Iran’s latest “drone” video is fake may be contained in the footage itself.

And you would be right!

Iran actually made this claim once before back in August (in the video clip above), going as far as say that their drone repeatedly circled the USS Ronald Reagan before it was even noticed, and that the U.S. attempted to shoot down the drone, but failed. Iran, or course, had zero evidence to support that claim.

Except for the video clip embedded in the post. But since the clip doesn’t help advance any right-wing agendas at the moment, it equals fakety-zero, yes. Unless it can be used to scare Americans about the Iranian Threat, in which case it becomes a super-not-fake real video, which is totally scary-real and not fake.

The grainy footage shows what is undoubtably the angled deck of a U.S. aircraft carrier, but on that carrier deck are aircraft, including what appears to be a different fighter on the port waist of the deck than the F/A-18s, EA-6s, and E-2Cs one would currently expect on modern U.S. carriers. Could those planes be F-14 Tomcats?

enterprise.jpg
Above: There is what appears to be a different fighter near the port catapult, which…

Whoops, wrong picture. He means this one:

carrier.jpg

Okay wait, what are they supposed to be again?

…F-14 Tomcats?

Honestly here, it’s a little hard to tell. They could maybe, possibly be F-14s, I guess. On second thought, the tails look wrong. Whatever; let’s just call them possible F-14s for the sake of comity and free inquiry.

But first, this is from the Breitbart story (actually from Agence France-Presse):

My Personal Nomination for the Impeachment
Drumbeat

I’m takin’ a quick break from work to bring y’all my very own favourite impeachment drumbeat:

…and now back to writing…

Gavin adds: Besides the ones people posted so far, I’m beginning to hear this drumbeat on infinite loop whenever the delectable i-word appears:

GOP FUD

Rick Moran continues his post-election spaz over at Right Wing Nut House, chastising us and Firedoglake, as representatives of the Congressional Democrats (?!), for a lack of bipartisanship, and then losing his last grip on the rail and trying to lecture David Neiwert on American democacy by archly invoking the Holocaust.

[…] Now that the devastating results are coming clear to all but that last deluded 30%, we need to make the words “conservativeâ€? and “Republicanâ€? forever synonymous with this mess.

We need to teach it in our history classes, and tell the tales to our own grandchildren. This, children, is what happens when you abandon liberalism. This is what’s happened every damned time we’ve ever handed conservatives the keys and let them drive. Don’t let them kid you. It’s not about two different views of democracy; it’s about whether your democracy lives or dies.

Uh…don’t worry Davey. When the time comes, all of us conservatives will march meekly and in a nice, neat line to the re-education camps and gas chambers. Just don’t tell us they’re “showers. That’s been done before.

Uh, thanks, Rick. We’ll see what we can come up with.

Swank Vs. Swank

Let’s return to those thrilling days of yesterweek, when…

IT’S HALLOWEEN HORROR IF DEMS WIN
By J. Grant Swank, Jr.
MichNews.com
Oct 25, 2006

It’s going to be horrific if Dems get control of government. In fact, there are no words to describe how horrible it will be to live in America if the irreligious Dems gain the driver’s seat.

Dems are anti-God, anti-family, anti-morality, anti-Judeo-Christian heritage, anti-unborn children, anti-decency, anti-reason. They are, in short, basically demonic. Not all of them, of course, but that’s the definition of the Dem agenda from a biblical study.

Therefore, for Dems to get the upper hand in the United States will spell more doom for this nation. Dems will strut their ugly stuff from coast to coast. It will not be a pleasant day for those who desire a biblically ethical base to everyday living.

swankvswank1.jpg
Above: “I’m bad Swank. And you’re good Swank. You’re a goody little two-shoes!”

Doom, like the game! That was truly scary, Bad Swank. Luckily, here comes Good Swank, in his post-election doom-repelling Nehru jacket.

NEXT 2 YEARS: A DO NOTHING CONGRESS
By J. Grant Swank, Jr.
MichNews.com
Nov 9, 2006

It really doesn’t matter about the results from Tuesday’s voting.

Nothing will change in the US Congress. Since 2004, nothing really happened since the Red States’ dream of happenings. What a disappointment for the loyal Red States.

Republicans did nothing laudable since President Bush’s re-election.

Democrats, furthermore, have nothing but a death platform to offer the United States.

It’s actually a bungee platform, but we’ve sawed through the cord. And it’s on the Brooklyn Bridge, so if one Republican jumps off, the rest will all be like, “Why, no proverbs are coming to mind, so I shall unthinkingly do the same in my accustomed manner. Excuse me; coming through.”

Yippie die yi-yay. Ho ho, hee hee, snork, chuckle, honk.

Therefore, when putting do nothing Republicans and do nothing Democrats in the same room, we end up with nothing.

Nothing but…A DAMNABLE PIT! Here’s Bad Swank again, from the week before:

In Praise Of Lincoln Chafee

Dr Kraphammer, in the midst of yet another typically bullshit-laden column, says one thing that is nearly true: “The Republicans have shed the last vestiges of their centrist past, the Rockefeller Republicans.” (I say ‘nearly’ because it’s more accurate to say ‘conservative’ rather than ‘centrist’; by world standards centrism is liberalism, Rockefeller Republicanism is conservative, and Republicanism in its current and common form — the kind to which Dr Kraphammer subscribes — is determinedly reactionary, even fascist.)

Now this has been true, practically speaking, since 1980: Rockefeller Republicans out, trogolodyte reactionaries in. As such, Lincoln Chafee was a relic living on borrowed time. Atrios is right; Chafee could have, and probably should have, switched parties. But then maybe he wanted to preserve a decent Republicanism for as long as possible, if only for the history books’ sake. Whatever his reasons, he lost. On ABC Tuesday, Stephanopolous kept saying that Rhode Island was the bluest of the blue, and though Chafee was independent of Bush (and the voters knew it), Chafee would pay with his political life for being a Republican of any sort.

And so he has; Sheldon Whitehouse is Rhode Island’s new Senator. Chafee was a decent public servant thrown out of office for policies his party enacted but he often opposed; as such, it would be understandable if he had a bitter feeling about the election. But on the contrary, he seems stoically resigned to his fate, and what’s more, his ears seem acutely attuned to vox populi’s long and disgusted roar:

PROVIDENCE — In his first interview since losing the Republican U.S. Senate seat that has been in his family for three decades, Lincoln D. Chafee yesterday said a lot of people had been coming up to him “and saying, ‘We’re sorry you lost, but glad the Congress switched’ from GOP to Democratic Party control.

Asked if deep down, despite his personal disappointment about the outcome of Tuesday’s election, he felt the same way, Chafee looked into the TV cameras and said: “To be honest, yes.

So, with the remainder of his time he’s gonna do the right thing, oppose the nomination of that instrument of war criminals, John Bolton:

Sen. Lincoln Chafee, R-R.I., who was defeated by Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse on Tuesday, told reporters in Rhode Island on Thursday that he would continue opposing Bolton. That would deny Republicans the votes they would need to move Bolton’s nomination from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to the full Senate.

Naturally, for holding to his principles Chafee is subject to the Batshit Yenta’s favorite catch-all slur: “Typical leftist Jew hater. Seriously..” More hilarity here.
