Suddenly Surber

Shorter Don “Jim Bob” Surber, The Charlztun Daly Mial:
It’s Now The United States of Audrey, Jr.
- While watching a movie about a man-eating plant, it occurred to me that the best way for the United States to solve its fiscal crisis is to tax the poor, who are all way too fat anyway.
‘Shorter’ concept created by Daniel Davies and perfected by Elton Beard. We are aware of all Internet traditions.™
ZOMG! Having just said something about Don in the last thread, I was very concerned that I would see the car lust Surber pic, which is completely unshooped. Thank Jeebus for the little favors. Now to read the new post….
Won’t get out of the boat. Was the pic Little Shop of Horrors?
West Virginia giveth (John Cole) and taketh away (Don Surber). I guess that sorta balances out somehow.
It exists, I thought I’d only dreamed of it.
Was the pic Little Shop of Horrors
I’m ALMOST tempted to get outtada boat to see how Donny gets from “FEED ME SEYMOUR” to deficit spending.
ALMOST.
Not even with a 10′ grow light, Don!
Off topic: If anyone is interested there is a website taking a poll on if Obama should be challenged in the primary and by whom. Check it out if you haven’t yet: http://stophoping.org/
joedonbillybob is the dumbest motherfucker to walk this earth…
joedonbillybob is the dumbest motherfucker to walk this earth…
‘Fess up, you got out of the boat, looking for a mango, and were greeted by a giant carnivorous plant?
It exists, I thought I’d only dreamed of it.
can we dream it back to that tiny little nugget of POOP joedonbillybobray calls a brain? please?
‘Fess up, you got out of the boat, looking for a mango, and were greeted by a giant carnivorous plant?
i was immediately beaten about the head and face with some srsly rotten mangos…and was greeted by a big steaming pile of crap…
That is dumb coiled upon dumb, wrapped in a blanket of Stoopid.
American manufacturers were forced to move to sweatshops in Honduras because Americans were too lazy to work and collected welfare instead.
So we just need to tax those lazy unemployed bastards in order to bring their jobs back.
Jeebus.
some of the mangoliciousness:
which is immediately followed by this:
Our people will not work for anything less than a “living wage,” so instead schoolgirls do our sewing for $3 a day.
what a-holes! imagine…wanting to make a living wage! and it’s not like the corporations who were just barely squeaking by profit-wise didn’t send all the production jobs to the third world or anything..
and let’s not forget this:
When food stamps began, the poor were undernourished; now the poor have the highest childhood obesity rate.
one can be fat and yet undernourished, dumbshit
We must make everyone pay taxes. It is unfair to exempt 47 percent of the nation’s adults from taxes.
they DO pay taxes, moron!
godalmighty donbobrayjoe gives me a fricking headache!
I’m ALMOST tempted to get outtada boat to see how Donny gets from “FEED ME SEYMOUR” to deficit spending.
That’s easy. The plant is the Kochs and their billionaire buddies and Surber wants to feed all the poor people to them.
No, you stupid fuck. You, as conservatives, blame government for all the ills of the world. The rest of us try to make it work properly.
Worthless bag of fuck.
Also, too. The whole LSoH scenario seems to ring truest with the plant as Wall St/the oligarchy, and so, once again, Donny misses the point completely.
The United States has gone from producing goods to consuming them. Our industrial base produces less than two-thirds of the goods we consume.
Because the corporations shipped all the jobs overseas (well actually ti Mexico and Central America initially) beginning in the late 70s.
We must make everyone pay taxes. It is unfair to exempt 47 percent of the nation’s adults from taxes.
they DO pay taxes, moron!
Not only do they pay taxes, they pay at a higher rate than the wealthiest 400 Americans (whose average tax rate is about 16%).
I’m a lurker here and you people keep telling me not to get outta the boat. Well, I did and here’s what I found:
“The Tea Party message of thrift resonates because people know the only way to handle debt is to quit borrowing — and then pay it down.
“For starters, let us end the roughly $125 billion in tax credits that go to the poor and the middle class for such things as having children and simply breathing.”
I shoulda listened

“For starters, let us end the roughly $125 billion in tax credits that go to the poor and the middle class for such things as having children and simply breathing.”
As opposed to the tax credits that go to the super-rich for being super-rich and for creating those jobs that they might someday get around to creating if we just give them ENOUGH tax credits?
I shoulda listened
you’ll find you are either more masochistic than you ever thought and will continue to go mango diving…or you just don’t listen…
has anyone checked out the comments yet? jes wondering if joedonbillybuttfuckhead gets schooled or not…
It almost seems like Surber is wilfully suppressing any knowledge of the financial sectors greed and recklessness and the ineptitude of the Bush administration. It could seem like he was trying to get his feet under the table of the rich folks by joining in the beating up the hoi polloi.
Turdbucket
Comments are smothered in idiocy as well. There seems to be someone having a go, but you can’t cut moron-reinforced pure cast stupid with a butter knife.
I wonder sometimes if these people even understand that they’re shilling for folks who would just as soon see them used as dog food filler. The mind boggles.
A) To check out the comments you gotta get outta the boat.
B) See above.
I wonder sometimes if these people even understand that they’re shilling for folks who would just as soon see them used as dog food filler. The mind boggles.
This. Many times this.
What the FUCK is it going to take??
A conservative? Really? Trying to wallpaper over the destruction his party has visited upon the country with a thin veneer of hypocrisy, class-baiting and fantasy-based economics? Heaven forfend!
I wonder sometimes if these people even understand that they’re shilling for folks who would just as soon see them used as dog food filler.
I agree with this. I really don’t feel bad for conservative voters, especially since so many of them are in it explicitly because they’re hoping to see someone else turned into dog food. But I wonder sometimes what goes through the head of, say, a conservative union voter who supporter Walker and suddenly finds that he’s the one getting screwed, not just the uppity poorer and blacker people.
Comments are smothered in idiocy as well. There seems to be someone having a go, but you can’t cut moron-reinforced pure cast stupid with a butter knife.
i did check them out and yeah…donny’s followers are wholly convinced they are right…it’s maddening
and suddenly finds that he’s the one getting screwed, not just the uppity poorer and blacker people.
it will somehow be the liberal dems fault…
I have no idea, but it won’t be nice whatever it is.
I used to think that times would just have to get really tough and that the theft of the nation’s lifeblood and treasure to become obvious and populism would start to have a fighting chance again. Now I’m not so sure. Assmonkeys like this will be cursing the awful libruls even as a bankster fumigates them and the last three rats they were saving for Christmas out from under the highway overpass so they won’t sully the countryside.
Time, I suppose. A generation or two that grow up in the ugly, hateful, Dickensian world that Surber and Pals want for us and are leading us into, and who will want a better society than that. Who won’t be so spiteful of the poor and middle class that they just want to make everyone suffer. Who will step up and clear out the darker corners and try to make it all work again.
Between now and then? We’re totally fucked.
But I wonder sometimes what goes through the head of, say, a conservative union voter who support[s] Walker
A lobotomy blade.
Thanx for the New Thread flag, bbfk. (Also, left some Connery movie stuff toward the end of last thread.) Now to get caught up on this one….
Nym fail.
There’s some unintentional irony flitting about as well.
Sayeth the staunch supporter of the party that knocked the cap gains rate down to less than half the earned income rate and throws a shitfit of world-threatening proportion should the concept of raising it back enter anyone’s mind.
Which actually made me lol.
Contrasted with the calls to kill the EPA and all regulation, which of course says volumes about the decency of conservatives.
They. Just. Don’t. Get. It.
I’ll give him this:
This is entirely accurate. Just not the way he meant.
The lazy, gullible and jealous put asshats like Reagan and Bush into power, elected the Gingrich congress which has now gone on to the Senate and put the fucking Teabaggers in charge.
We do indeed get the government we deserve.
The 1960s and the 1980s were a prosperous time in America. We made things and sold them around the world.
The 1980s? Um.
I’m going to sit comfortably in my deck chair, thenkyouverymuch.
Join me for a mint julep, Helen?
Solidarity.
They. Just. Don’t. Get. It.
i.k.r.? and they just blah, blah, blah…we have the ONLY answers…blah, blah. blah…liberals dum and don’t unnerstan logik…blah, blah, blah…
Congrats, folks. You followed a post on Little Tommy Warcriminal-Wanabe with a post on someone who is even more contemptible. For the love of god, how do you do it?!?
I’ve laughed at many of your Surber posts, mistakenly thinking you were exaggerating for humorous effect, but I finally swashbuckled my way to the shore, and I’m almost ready to call Poe on this guy. Here are the actual titles of his recent dreck, no editing done by me:
The hinterlands deserve representation
Conservatives should thank Obama
Tax now, promise to cut spending later
Outsource federal budgeting to West Virginia
The United States of Huntington?
Let’s beat up smokers and feel good
Trust government with health care?
What’s the matter with kids today?
(Yes, that last one is real, and it’s about how Americans are not overpopulating like the rutting rabbits we once were, and still should be. He blames abortion and contraception, of course. Hey, Don, you blame a woman’s ability to control her own body, which of course is part of the “problem”, but how about considering that people with fewer financial opportunities will choose to have fewer children if they can might have some effect, too? Nope, didn’t think you would.)
… folks who would just as soon see them used as dog food filler.
Not everyone who fits that description is rich or powerful. For example, many of his readers agree that would be a better use of his ample neck flab, not to mention that criminal waste of perfectly good protein between his ears.
(Sorry to go so dark, but humans who rationalize the needless suffering of their fellow humans, like Little Kept Pornstache, or who — far worse –actively blame the victims for their states, like this loser, deserve thoughts of being mulched. While still breathing. With rusty strip-mining equipment.)
Well, he probably feels the same way you did the last time your party blatantly sold you out for no reason at all.
If you’re an American who votes Democratic it should be especially easy to understand.
Anyway, it’s getting to the point with me that I’m less concerned about the fact that Surber is blatantly wrong and more with the fact that he and so many other people clearly can’t make an honest argument to save their lives:
So… what? It should be Americans working for $3 a day? Because our whole economy would have to undergo massive changes for $90 a month to even provide you with even the most basic food and shelter. I mean, even living in a youth hostel and eating ramen morning, noon and night would break your budget at those wages.
Or is there some way our lowest demand workers could be paid more then $3 an hour but still not tempt factories to move to where the cheaper wages are? If so, wouldn’t it behoove you to explain what that wage is, and how you arrived at it?
This isn’t even a bad argument, and it’s not meant to convince anybody of anything; it’s a series of Republican advertising slogans mindlessly strung together in such a way that it will remind people of the prejudices they already have, and make them feel good that someone agrees with them.
It’s really kind of scary.
Well, he probably feels the same way you did the last time your party blatantly sold you out for no reason at all.
If you’re an American who votes Democratic it should be especially easy to understand.
Solidarity !!!!
It’s the Two Minute Hate, now conveniently run 24/7 at a location near you.
Well, the alternative of course, is not fucking living. Most people understandably tend to try to avoid that condition.
Fuck you, Surber.
Well, he probably feels the same way you did the last time your party blatantly sold you out for no reason at all.
Not everyone who votes for Democrats is a Democrat. I vote for Democrats (mostly), but I have never joined any political party, mostly because I believe they are bad for our chosen form of government. And Democrats have had plenty of (very bad) reasons to sell out their constituencies.
If you’re an American who votes Democratic it should be especially easy to understand.
I’m doing the best I can within a corrupt system; being not a Leninist, I will not dedicate my entire life to political acts. Surber is blaming the victims of that corrupt system for their own misfortunes; that’s a moral failing of the highest order. Please learn to make such judgments correctly.
We do indeed get the government we deserve.
I don’t have a problem with getting the government I deserve. I have a problem with getting anything Surber richly deserves.
And thankyouverymuch, Fenwick. I would love to.
I got out of the boat. Amazing leaps in logic to translate a MAN-EATING PLANT into “make the poor poorer.”
Amazing leaps in logic…
That last word does not mean what you think it means! 😉
Merci beaucoup for all those lovely mangoes, Sadlies.
I admit, given such a large, slow-moving & squishy-soft target, I ALMOST clicked – but I’m just not up to any Bitchslapping action today. In this case it feels too much like punching a puppy – it won’t learn anything & I’ll just feel like shit afterwards … you can lead a wingnut to reality but you can’t make them think.
In other words:
ts;dt
(too stupid; didn’t troll).
Because the corporations shipped all the jobs overseas (well actually ti Mexico and Central America initially) beginning in the late 70s.
…after decades of uprooting factories to move them to “right to work” states in order to lower wages, remove worker participation in management, and disconnect production from skill. The route to serfdom didn’t begin with moving factories out of the country, it began with moving them to Mississippi. And now the people in Mississippi are upset that the asshole they stole from another marriage has a roving eye.
Here’s a puzzler for you: When the Republicans say the same thing, to justify voting for the people that screw them over, what is their version of “Leninist”?
I mean, for a variety of reasons they aren’t going to say “I’m not a fascist”.
Maybe “I’m not a Bircher”?
Incidentally, I wasn’t responding to Surber (Who I agree with you about) so much as I was responding to Chris V.
Everybody in America has voted for somebody who then turned around and fucked them in the ass without even using lube. Many of us have turned around and supported them again even after they did it. If you do something, it really shouldn’t be a mystery why somebody else would also do the same thing.
Christopher-
Except we’re not talking political parties. Sure, we all vote for what we view as “the least evil option” and we take some nasty poison on that journey owing to us having a two-party system in a winner-takes-all voting methodology (you know, the least democratic and most open to abuse form of representative democracy).
I think the question that Chris was getting at and what I and others are more curious about is investing so much time, effort, rhetoric, and so on in a political ideology that’s entirely about reducing people exactly like you into low-cost dog food for the rich.
I can understand some shit-kicking racist sexist asshole drunk on their privilege deciding that phantoms of black people getting jobs and women controlling their reproductive abilities are so scary he’ll also accept the demonic ass rape.
What marvels me is the far larger swath of fuckers who will actively cheer the rape and try and see it as pleasant. The ones who will argue for policies designed to harm them and resist any attempt made to aid them, who will work at the movement level to create a society where they will be eliminated like the useful idiots they are, devoting their entire lives for just the psychological taste of “being on the winning team” and will create elaborate fantasy worlds to live in simply to avoid the crushing reality that they have spent their lives fighting to make their own lives worse in the hopes that life will get that slightly more worse for the hated Other.
Using your analogy, there is a large swath of people here and in the liberal community who have voted for Democrats and will continue to vote for Democrats, but there are very few in the liberal community who actively like the type of deals that have been made in direct damage to an important constituency or like the debt ceiling bullshit are in direct contrast to liberal values.
You may find some who find the sacrifices a necessary evil or who, thanks to privilege, find the benefits gained personally outweigh the suffering of people who are not them enough to begrudgingly support it and say “hey, it’s a good deal overall, and it’s the best we could have gotten”. And you may certainly find those assholes who go around every time there is a bad bill and just reiterate how much worse the other side is.
But the thing that binds them all together with those of us swearing under our breath is that none of them think the compromises are inherently good and would be something to pursue absence the corruption and sausage-making of national politics in our broken system.
And yet, with these conservative fuckers, that’s just what we’re seeing. People not just saying, yeah, more money to the moocher class, well, it’s a necessary compromise to get our Forced Birth Factory built in Jesusland, but rather “Yes, of course we must grant more money to the super-rich, that’s just common sense”.
They don’t just accept the shit-sandwich, but celebrate it and immediately incorporate it into the center of their worldview and treat it as inherent and necessary to their worldview. Something they will fight for to the death, even though it benefits them in no way and often directly hurts them (see the hilarity of old teabaggers yelling about the socialism of medicare and then ending up shocked and surprised when the cuts and punishments they demanded end up affecting them and the medicare they took for granted).
Personally, I suspect it’s there black and white way of viewing the world. They are the good guys, supporting other good guys against the bad guys. Whatever the good guys support must be good and inerrantly good, much like how they read the Bible*. If one law or action or idea is bad then everything is bad and they would have been a bad person for supporting it. Thus, anything from the good side no matter what is good and must be rationalized and defended so that they will always be good. This would of course work in the reverse where anything touched by someone on the bad side must be inherently bad, even if it is a good idea, thus leading them to reject common-sense in order to reinforce their commitment to “the good side”.
Still, even if I’m right, you have to wonder if there are ever moments when realization dawns at the corners of their mind and their brain strains at the effort to try and not notice how actively they end up campaigning to fuck themselves. Especially when they’re unemployed and broke and trying to survive on the broken remnants of an actual social support net.
So, yeah, sorry for the long comment, but that analogy is not even close to the real interesting aspect of these fuckwads.
* Which is why said religions and ideologies always posit that thinking is an act of evil and possible proof of infection by the “bad side”. Because that’s the only way you could survive five seconds in the world, because a brain that isn’t actively trying to resist reality and live in a fantasy world would be quickly consumed and forced to abandon the worldview.
What Cerberus said.

Cool comment, bro
And on the political sidetrack:
I think my generation and especially the generations coming of age now are a lot better on this and are getting better all the time. We seem to be getting the visceral lesson because there are no jobs for us, there is no social safety net left for us, and in general, we get kicked around and fucked over, our friends or selves being targeted by old bigots as the evil enemy that must be destroyed.
Even those raised in the most conservative environments seem to trend very far to the left from where they started from just because of what they’ve survived and how hollow fears about “socialism” sound when all they’ve felt is the cold hard boot of the “free market” and especially since they can see that that just means the rich own everything.
Hell, we’re not even as conservative as our representation would seem to suggest. There is a massive gap between where we are socially and where we are politically and eventually that gap will decrease either peacefully (with a 20s style political reformation) or violently (with either the serfs deciding to behead their owners or the willing authoritarians giving perfect translation to their darkest desires followed by the serfs beheading them and making uneasy peace with the owners in order to “move past” the “dark times”).
Seriously.
It’s called a “living wage”. One of those words is a giant fucking clue about what it’s about. If you’re not making it, you’re not surviving on it. Yes, there is in fact a bottom where the work is so under-regarded, disrespected, thankless, dangerous, and tiring and the pay is so insulting and meaningless that there is no point even for the desperate to pursue it. Often then, the greedy try and turn to those who have no other option, the enslaved or those desperately trying to start over in a new country, so afraid of discovery and the consequences that they’ll suffer any indignity.
Countries that aren’t third-world hellholes masquerading as first-world nations solve this problem by demanding their businesses pay not only a living wage, but a living wage for a single-income family and furthermore, making that the minimum salary you earn even without work. Said countries amazingly don’t seem to run out of businesses who just couldn’t work with such high oppression, nor are they over-run with people who live off the lowest possible salary and don’t seek work.
Apparently the Feminine Mystique applies to everyone and most people don’t like laying about their house with no real purpose. Those who need external purpose like having a job to go to, even if the pay isn’t all that different, as long as the conditions aren’t abusive. And those who don’t tend to create micro-employment for themselves by diving into various projects that can turn into money-making endeavors.
But hey, let’s steal the food out of their mouths (more than they already are), that will totally cause businesses that haven’t tried hiring people yet to totally decide to double their staff. Especially those in the food-selling business.
Another fact that avoids these fuckers’ attentions?
The fact that our capitalist system runs on the fact that there will always be a mandatory minimum number of people out of work even when the economy is booming. That is, to function, some people need to be unlucky bastards without income for some variable amount of time. Instead of easing that burden and insuring that such mandatory circumstance isn’t a FUCKING DEATH SENTENCE, they are demanding every possible means to insure that anyone out of the game drowns as they deserve.
The end-goal of such a system without revolution is the death of every single person in the country. Most countries don’t get that far, because there is a level of death at which point the poor realize that “death penalty” for violent crimes is exactly the same as for being poor and decides to take the Chinese Soldier approach (the tale of the soldiers who noticed that being late carried the same punishment as treason and so decided to war against the Empire, eventually overthrowing it).
Well, the alternative of course, is not fucking living.
ZRM? Your thoughts?
Time, I suppose. A generation or two that grow up in the ugly, hateful, Dickensian world that Surber and Pals want for us and are leading us into, and who will want a better society than that. Who won’t be so spiteful of the poor and middle class that they just want to make everyone suffer. Who will step up and clear out the darker corners and try to make it all work again.
Heck of a burden for my generation to carry – I can only hope we’re up to it. (Socially, I know we’re a lot more liberal than our forefathers. Politically and economically, I’m not sure).
Now THAT’s funny. Black humor, but still humor. Yes, after moving all the factories southward in search of a cheaper, less well protected and represented labor force, NO ONE COULD HAVE PREDICTED that the corporations of the world would go on to screw Southerners and Southwesterners the same way they’d screwed Northeasterners and Midwesterners.
I think the question that Chris was getting at and what I and others are more curious about is investing so much time, effort, rhetoric, and so on in a political ideology that’s entirely about reducing people exactly like you into low-cost dog food for the rich.

This.
America grew fat and lazy.
The world is our Seymour, and we tell it: “Shut up and bring me food!”
As a nation, we blame the government — as if the electorate is not responsible for who sits in Washington.
Why the hate on for AMERICA, the bestest people and country EVAR, Doam Surberhomsky?
Holy fuck! Three new threads! And from HTML no less.
Imma say a coupl’a things here anyway.
N__B @ 10:33,
Precisely.
Cerberus, as usual, exceptional. Well worth clicking past the badgers.
Chris,
Making a functioning society out of the ideals and documents and history we have been left is a heck of a burden for every generation. Mine seems to have abdicated the responsibility entirely in the shadow of the all-consuming Boomers. I don’t know that we had that much of a chance to be any sort of dominant force, though most aren’t, tending to a more evolutionary process of succession. Best of luck to you lot putting it all back together.
Even Henry Ford paid his workers enough to be able to afford a Model T.
It is going to get worse, before it gets better.
I do think my children will be part of the change for the better. When the Li’l Creaturette arrived, I said “I don’t want her to rule the world, just help change it!” I’ll be dead and gone by then. But a lot of you all won’t be.
Time for a little Orphan Feast, perhaps?
