R is for retrograde reactionary Republican

T is for total douchebag

FART.

I bet this one is REALLY horrible.

My curiosity got the better of me so I got out of the boat.

It looks a “letter to the editor” to some right-wing desert newspaper that serves retirees, a military base and aerospace industry drones. Something the opinion editor would single out as being particularly clever and maybe should be boxed or highlighted at the top of the letters page. Something the copy editors had to work on for a while to turn it into readable English.

(You can tell I’ve been there.)

Yuk!

Good “R” there: Three of ’em!

Actually, Hoosier, the Tucson Citizen folded (at least in its print version). I’m not sure anybody noticed yet, though.

Actually, Gavin, if you assume the word “pwn” is Welsh, that’s exactly how it should be pronounced.

Lamb chopped-“Obama still hasn’t fixed everything George busted~! What a loser!”

I was going to say – how *would* you pronounce “pwn”, then? If W is a vowel it has to be “oo”; if not, it can’t be pronounced at all.

How do you spell incompetence?

O-S-C-A-R-M-A-Y-E-R-B-A-L-O-N-E-Y

And so I’ve reached the conclusion, gentlemen, that the Wonker Wiener Company is riddled with incompetence.

Whoop whoop, pull up pull up — forgot link.
Smut’s brain the Wonker Wiener Company is riddled with incompetence.

The Tuscon Citizen folded?

Does that mean Mallard Fillmore lost another outlet and is down into single digits?

(Maybe if he stole the whole “How to Spell Incompetence” idea, it would help him get back up to ten, or 12 or even 15 newspapers! After all, conservatives love really stupid shit that isn’t at all funny!)

A currently serving Republican Texas Congressman said:

“I talked to a retired FBI agent who said that one of the things they were looking at were terrorist cells overseas who had figured out how to game our system.”

Retired FBI agents, god bless ’em.
But I have to ask Rep. Gomer, you are a sitting Congressman, why are relying on ‘retired’ FBI agents for information?

“And it appeared they would have young women, who became pregnant, would get them into the United States to have a baby,” said Gohmert.

So are you upset there are no Americans involved in these pregnancies? If the women came here THEN got pregenant would that be okay?

“They wouldn’t even have to pay anything for the baby.”

Commies too, Rep. Gomer? The Cads!

And then they would turn back where they could be raised and coddled as future terrorists. And then one day, twenty, thirty years down the road, they can be sent in to help destroy our way of life.”

“Retired” FBI Agent you say?

‘Cause they figured out how stupid we are being in this country to allow our enemies to game our system, hurt our economy, get set up in a position to destroy our way of life.”

Are we talking about Lobbyists or Terrorists? Well whomever it is, I’m sure they are just shaking in their boots now that they know you are wise to them Rep. Gomer.

Fuuuuuuuuck.

Even in the most fucked up days of the Cheney administration, it just doesn’t seem that the total loons on the left were ever nearly as bad as these clowns are now. I mean, the Truthers almost got their fifteen minutes, and the baby-eating jokes go on to this day, but as far as “serious” and somewhat mainstream outlets saying the most absurd shit and having people swallow it complete, nothing comes close. It really doesn’t matter what it is, or how far out. As long as it says Obama=bad, they lap it up and puke it back to each other. It can’t be long before “Obama killed the Polish President with his sooper sekrit spy ray.” becomes axiomatic on Fox News.

Just wow.

Think howuch more plausible this would be, if his story had involved a retired CIA agent instead who might actually be privy to overseas intel.

Scott Johnson at Power Line today:

In 2005 the New York Times published a predictably fawning profile Senator Byrd by Sheryl Stolberg in “A master of Senate’s ways is still parrying in his twilight.” . . . And Byrd was old enough to have participated in filibustering the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as well as to have voted against it after cloture along with 18 other Democrats — in the name of the Constitution, of course. Funny Stolberg didn’t invite Byrd to take a walk down memory lane on that subject.

Hmm.

Think howuch more plausible this would be, if his story had involved a retired CIA agent instead who might actually be privy to overseas intel.

Indeed. I’ve heard several things about what happens when the FBI tries to operate overseas, most of them diasastrous. They really should stick to what they know.

Yeah, that’s the problem with the right. The system keeps our crazies (Truthers and such) in check, not least because we ourselves keep them in check – the system doesn’t do any such thing for them. In fact, the system throws the doors wide open and sends them off with a pat on the back.

And _we_ know that it’s worked every time before. JUST DON’T SAY IT GODAMNIT.

I’m glad to see Chris admits the truth, too.

Not exactly. There isn’t a Complete And Total World Domination By Conservatives coming, if that’s what you mean.

What is in the works is the kind of status quo we’ve seen for the last two decades; liberals won’t have enough street cred to get the programs they need to fix the economy through (largely because Obama bent over backwards compromising with conservatives instead of passing what needed to be passed). Shibboleths like “I’ll cut your taxes and it’ll only help the deficit!” will likely remain “conventional wisdom” for a while longer.

But that’s also a fail for you in the sense that conservatives won’t be able to change the status quo either. Eventually, a conservative will get back into office (whether in 2012 or later is anyone’s guess) and will probably almost certainly be teabagger approved;

But I doubt he’ll be able to get his full program through either. Gingrich came to power on a revolution and tried to strangle Medicare; you saw how that worked. Bush swept the 2004 election and tried to privatize Social Security; you saw how that worked. Both those things contributed significantly to running the GOP’s momentum into the ground. Voters are terrified of the status quo changing to something worse; that applies to GOP “reforms” as much as any other.

So the future right now looks like more of the same; an American public that keeps asking for tax cuts while maintaining welfare programs (notice how the teabaggers actually had to hold their noses and use the “Think of the seniors on Medicare!” line and the fear that UHC would divert government funds from that). It’s a victory for conservatives in the sense that the people running the conservative movement will continue to have a government filled with obedient toadies who cut their taxes and look the other way when they dodge them (and let’s be honest, most of those people don’t give a shit if SS and MC remain public). But it’s not going to lead to the kind of ideological cleansing of the government and the complete return to the Gilded Age and Somali-sized government, either. And since the GOP doesn’t know to leave well enough alone, they’ll probably keep running into the same problems Gingrich and Bush experienced, no matter how many “Quick, look at the scary nigger!” rhetorical devices they continue to pull.

That’s too furren for rednecks like Troofie. More like crystal meth, the stuff that Grandma makes inna tub.

TL;DR. Can I still lick your balls?

It FAILED. Just like Obama will FAIL, and I hope he FAILS!

Man, S,N, you’ve actually gotten Rush Limbaugh to get off his fat ass and come post here! I don’t know whether to congratulate you or not.

There’s this thing, right? It’s called “Google”? You should try it some time.

A far-right, movement conservative that will end the Greater Depression!

Perhaps, but would Somalia style anarchy really be better than living in a depression?

The last year was a dead cat bounce, just like in the ’30s.

Seriously. Are you sure you want to use that analogy? Because no matter how many dead cat bounces took place in the ’30s, under Roosevelt, people just kept right on voting for him. (Must have driven the elites of the time insane).

I’m just saying.

Of course I don’t want Somalia, you lib faggots! Somalia has niggers! Other than that, it’d be great, though.

Let’s see a link, Actor.

*unzipping*

I got your link right here. Suck it, honey.

Obambi doesn’t have the political skills of FDR, and the country is more educated economically since the 1980s. They understand you can’t get tax your way to prosperity. Taxing and regulating the investor class only makes things worse.

FDR, in reality, prolonged the Great Depression. Read “The Forgotten Man” .

Of course, Actor doesn’t have a link for his “data”.

You, no I doan gots no teef – iffen I warsh da onyun dip and dem tots out, can I gives you a gum job?

And the Supreme Court has struck down local gun ban rules.

This day just keeps getting better and better for conservatives…

St. Kid from Kounty Meath

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Seriously, Troofie, when your excitement hinges on the idea of this country getting smarter since the ’80s, it’s time to hang up the spurs.

Obambi doesn’t have the political skills of FDR

1932

FDR 472 electoral votes 57.4% of popular vote
Hoover 42 electoral votes

2008

Obama 365 electoral votes 53% popular vote
McCain 173 electoral votes

Um, don’t look now, Troofie, but I think he does.

And the Supreme Court has struck down local gun ban rules.

This day just keeps getting better and better for conservatives…

I foresee an awful lot of “nigras” loading up on guns. Let’s see how good Troofie feels about this day then.

Gov. Joe Manchin (D- WV)

Yeah, Troofie, about that…

the country is more educated economically since the 1980s

::blink::

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Right. That’s why Troofie blames homeowners for the mortgage crisis!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

Of course, Actor doesn’t have a link for his “data”.

I’m still waiting for your data on black-on-black crime, shithead. You don’t get something for nothing around here, boy.

Also: you know what incompetence truly is? Starting off your dumb little ass-crostic with ” ‘O’ is for the letter O”.

“M is for Moe, the owner of Moe’s.
O is for the O in the middle of Moe’s.”

…I forget how the rest of it goes.

Another serious question, Troofie:

How much fibre does your morning farina have in it? I’m thinking of switching from organic oatmeal now that summer is here.

Troofie only gets me in the morning in his dreams, fuckball.

Here is how it will go down next week. First, the results from Virginia and North Carolina will come in, and they’ll be declared for McCain. You’ll be disappointed, but “no big deal, change can’t come overnight” will be your comment. Florida will go red, and a little nervousness will creep in. The usual suspects will fall into the usual categories. As the night drags on, Ohio, Colorado, and (much to your horror) Pennsylvania will be too close to call.

My advice at this point to you will be to go to bed. You will wake up to a McCain presidency and the Great Liberal Freakout will be on.

Bookmark this, liberals, as this is exactly how it is going to go down. You will be wonder how the hell I was able to call this

Sorry, Mr Farina, I didn’t mean to expose your secret.

I’m afraid your appointee will only last until the special election this November, Governor!

You will wake up to a McCain presidency and the Great Liberal Freakout will be on.

Also, when a stimulus whose single biggest chunk by far came in the form of tax cuts fails to stimulate the economy, this is a sign that we should elect people who shall give us MORE tax cuts.

98% incumbent re-election rate, Troofie.

So sad, too bad, you lose!

Taxing and regulating the investor class only makes things worse.

I love this little mantra. “Don’t tax the investors or they won’t invest anymore and there’ll be no new jobs!!!!!!!!” Yeah, right. If they can make money investing rather than working for a living you can be sure they will damn well invest. Even if they (gasp) have to pay taxes they still come out ahead. The way things are now the investors, and I’m talking about the big fish here, are collecting big dividends from their investments mostly because corporations are cutting jobs or sending them overseas. So by not taxing the investors we are losing the tax revenue while losing jobs at the same time.

This is no ordinary year, Actor, and the Tea Party is strong in West Virginia I’m sure! West Virginia wants small government.

Also, when a stimulus whose single biggest chunk by far came in the form of tax cuts fails to stimulate the economy, this is a sign that we should elect people who shall give us MORE tax cuts.

So tax cuts fail, so we should try more?

It smells that way, to be sure.

Well, the honesty is refreshing…

Hmmm…..

This best not be you in here spouting all that bullshit to wind up these suckers, Lonnie, Jr. You know you’ve got better things to do.

Yep, after so many of us died in the mines thanks to Don Blankenship’s fat, sociopathic ass, there’s nothing we want more than a bunch of old douchebags who yearn for the days when it was legal for the cops to shoot strikers. Nice citation, by the way. “I’m sure!” Yeah, retards tend to be.

Well, see, Robert Byrd LEFT the Klan at some point, boy.

I have Cheneys on both sides of my family. And we don’t even live in West Virginia!

So no, troofus, you are full of shit.

Why can’t you fuckups face facts? We have been cutting taxes since 1980. It hasn’t worked in any sustainable manner a single time.

We have been cutting taxes since 1980 1960. It hasn’t worked in any sustainable manner only worked that single time.

Fixed for historical accuracy: Kennedy cut the top rate from something like 90% to 50%, and ushered in the economic boom of the 60s.

In fairness, tho, that was a long time coming and may have been due to other factors, like the thought that America had the only standing economy at the end of World War II.

can you imagine the reaction if a Republican said “nigger”?

You mean like when John Lewis was walking into the Capitol earlier this year and the mainstream media didn’t cover it at all?

There was no proof they said it, nobody ever provided a videotape.

Byrd’s comments, however, were on tape. On national TV.

Robert Byrd even said “nigger” on national television in 2002

Hey, check out what a dead guy said eight years ago!

But nobody is allowed point out that the Bush administration caused our country’s current problems, because it stopped being relevant the moment he left office!

Back in 2005, an Empire Notes analysis of Bush’s falling approval numbers and Katrina led to this little aside about Trent Lott; an accurate analysis of why the man fell after that “all these problems” quote, which was absent from virtually every major media outlet.

November 7, 2005

Radio Commentary — Polls, George Bush, and Trent Lott

[…]

The key to understanding all this is Trent Lott. You recall that in early December 2002 he said things might have been much better in this country if Strom Thurmond the segregationist had won his presidential campaign in 1948. Lott was subjected to a firestorm of abuse. Early on, however, almost all of it came from liberals and numerous Republicans rallied around Lott. For the first week or so, Lott was making apologies but seemed fully ready to fight to retain his seat as Senate Majority Leader. Then, on December 16, he went on Black Entertainment Television and said he supported affirmative action.

After that, conservatives opened fire on Lott with both barrels. Within four days, he had stepped down.

Until the Katrina disaster, Bush had retained a firm hold on the conservative base, by the simple expedient of never changing his mind, never admitting that anything was wrong, and “staying the course.” Katrina hit so hard, for a short time, at least, that the Bush administration blinked and betrayed one of its cardinal principles. They announced a massive non-military-related government spending program, which would drive the budget deficit up and even worse, to conservatives, largely for the benefit of poor black people.

Conservatives felt betrayed by this abandonment and then by the Miers nomination and started to desert the president. That’s why his honesty numbers have gone down – not because more people have started to read facts about Iraq WMD but because those good old conservatives who trusted his handshake and his firm promise to cut down big government no longer do.

Robert Byrd even said “nigger” on national television in 2002, saying “I’ve seen a lot of white niggers in my time”, can you imagine the reaction if a Republican said “nigger”?

a) It was March 4, 2001

b) He apologized for the remark:
“I apologize for the characterization I used on this program,” he said. “The phrase dates back to my boyhood and has no place in today’s society.

“As for my language, I had no intention of casting aspersions on anyone of another race,” he said. “In my attempt to articulate strongly held feelings, I may have offended people.”

“Unfortunately,” he added, “there are people in every race who would rather attack others simply because of ill-conceived, false stereotypes based on skin color. People who do this are obstacles to positive race relations and become the stereotypes that they despise. But by working together and continually improving the understanding between the races, we can overcome these narrow-minded people and the obstacles that they represent.

If a Republican/conservative/Troofie was caught using such language, how eloquent do you think they would be in apologizing for it, if they did at all?

Also, when a stimulus whose single biggest chunk by far came in the form of tax cuts fails to stimulate the economy, this is a sign that we should elect people who shall give us MORE tax cuts.

Tax cuts mostly for the poor and middle class with an increase of the top marginal rate during a major recession? We can live with that.

No, of course no one has the “nigger” comment on tape. No one at all.

In fairness, tho, that was a long time coming and may have been due to other factors, like the thought that America had the only standing economy at the end of World War II.

See, I don’t think cutting taxes is inherently wrong and raising taxes is always the answer. Cutting and raising taxes in response to specific market conditions isn’t something I have a moral objection to, which is what Kennedy did.

The problem since Reagan is that tax cuts have become an objective in and of themselves, not for the sake of helping the economy but for the sake of cutting taxes. Economy doing well? Cut taxes, because we can afford it. Economy doing badly? Cut taxes, because it’ll encourage the rich to spend more. Economy still doing badly? Cut taxes, because we didn’t cut enough the first time. Economy recovering? Cut taxes, and it’ll recover faster. Economy doing well again? Cut taxes, now we can afford it again.

In fairness, tho, that was a long time coming and may have been due to other factors, like the thought that America had the only standing economy at the end of World War II.

Well, I don’t think those economies compare, despite the accuracy of the statement. Back then, stuff was made here in the US. We had the space race, the Marshall Plan, generally hardcore productivity and strong labor back in those days. There was a justification for it. The recent cuts have been little more than the largest contributing factor in destroying the middle class.

I am absolutely in favor of middle class tax cuts. Cap them at the first $80,000 of family income, and call it a day.

The problem since Reagan is that tax cuts have become an objective in and of themselves

Bingo. When tax cuts become policy instead of a tool, that’s an idiotic economy.

The problem since Reagan is that tax cuts have become an objective in and of themselves, not for the sake of helping the economy but for the sake of cutting taxes. Economy doing well? Economy recovering? Cut taxes, and it’ll recover faster. Economy doing well again? Cut taxes, now we can afford it again.

Cont’d;

You can always come up with a rationale for cutting taxes, and most of the time it’ll play in the media like motherhood and apple pie, because really, who doesn’t want to pay less taxes?

None of the rationalizations, however, change the fact that in the last thirty years, the overwhelming trend in the government has been in cutting taxes, not raising them, and for the upper class most of all. Yet living standards for the average family haven’t gone up in thirty years. The promises of the tax cutters that it would propel us to a golden age haven’t been kept.

(Of course, creating a golden age for anything less than the elite of the elite was never the plan).

See, I don’t think cutting taxes is inherently wrong and raising taxes is always the answer. Cutting and raising taxes in response to specific market conditions isn’t something I have a moral objection to, which is what Kennedy did.

I’m wholeheartedly in favor of tax cuts when the federal budget can sustain it. This last 30 years of borrowed time and money and betting on GDP growth to shield us from the consequences is criminal at best. It is pure malfeasance in the entire idea of cutting taxes under the guise of fiscal stimulus, to say nothing of the obscene way it benefited nobody but people who are already wiping their asses with money.

This.

The lesson an “economically educated America” *koffkoff* should have learned under Clinton and then, tragically, in the mortgage crisis is, a country that spends by borrowing is not doing its citizenry any favors unless it’s spending on economic activity.

This is something neither the government nor the beneficiaries of the tax cuts were doing. They were speculating, moving paper around, and deferring real investment in industries and economic activity.

I’ve thought all along that the easy revolving credit, the easy mortgage credit, and the first attempted bailout (privatizing Social Security) were all just deferments of the crisis we’re enduring right now. All of this was facilitated with the deregulation…

When I stand back an look at it, it looks to me like spending your money on cocaine instead of paying your bills, then going to a payday lender, then paying back the payday lender but coming up short, then going back again…..eventually the whole thing explodes in your face.

Oh, and is “OH YEAH WELL STROM THURMOND YUSTA BE A DEMOKRAT!!!!!one!!!” officially so stale a hack like Troofie won’t touch it? Never thought I’d see the day.

What I love about that hack is that it’s yet another case of Democrats cleaning up their own house while Repubs failed to do the same;

Strom Thurmond’s candidacy as a Dixiecrat? That was him leaving the Democratic Party, protesting against the Democratic Party, because Harry Truman, a Democrat, had just desegregated the military and opened a can of worms that would eventually lead the counry to victory for the civil rights movement (this after Republicans let the civil rights thing rot on the shelf for nearly eighty years, dusting it off only for election seasons in the right districts like they’re doing with abortion right now).

So, the idea that Thurmond’s rebellion against the Democrats somehow shows the Democrats were all Thurmondites is pretty hysterical.

TruculentandUnreliable

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE REAL T&U?!?!?

What? I thought I’d go the subtle route…oh…you’re right.

Harry Truman, a Democrat liberal, FDR Democrats who won in 1948 by making the election a referendum on the New Deal and was viciously panned by Republicans as a communist, a party to “twenty years of treason,” a Soviet agent and a weakling who’d lost us China and was going to lose us Korea.

Fixed to preempt any possible claims that “Democrats were different back then” and “Truman would have been one of us,” as is so popular on the right these days.

Well, let’s see. The economy went into the crapper because of Conservative economic policies. Its not coming out as quickly as it should because Obama’s compromising to accommodate Conservative economic policies. And Conservatives want to force the economy to fail so they can take over and implement the same Conservative economic policies that put it in the crapper and drive the economy ever further into the crapper. Or maybe just flush it this time.

Taxing and regulating the investor class only makes things worse.

If there’s one thing Conservatives should really work like hell to bring back, it’s bank panics.

Also, unlike taxes, market crashes don’t stop when you hit a threshold percentage.

makes no sense. We royalists know that the US Constitution is itself a Christ-killer plot by James Madison (who was previously enthrall to Haym Solomon), and the US revolution itself was instigated by foreign agents with class-based connections to the global Islamo-fascist conspiracy — all an attempt to destroy the good, Christian Empire of Britain.

The Great Patriot, GW Bush warned us about this when he reminded us, don’t forget the Poles. Obama is just part of a long-term effort to use the former American colonies of Great Britain as a launch point for the New World Order. The so-called US Constitution is actually part and parcel of this plot.

Anyway, what kind of name is Ben Franklin?

This is interesting. Most Americans would favor repealing part of or all of the HCR bill – that’s the bad news. The good news is that most of them would also favor more stimulus spending, more regulation of financial institutions, and more regulation of energy output by private companies.

I miss that troofie. Well, I wish he would give me the opportunity to miss him.

Remember that time he cut and pasted a steaming pile of crap from a conservative commentator here and we were all “Hey, NOW I see what you mean! That makes a lot more sense than the reality I’ve grown so tired of having to face. Can you paste some that would validate my fear of brown people?” and then Fonzie saved Pinky in the demolition derby? Man, that was so cool.

Go into your browser’s preferences, go to “Appearance”, and set the default encoding to UTF-8 instead of Western (Mac OS Roman) or (ISO Latin 1), which is what it usually defaults to. You’ll save yourself from looking at a lot of gibberish.

My computer just spontaneously slides back to one of those every once in a while. Can’t figure out why.
